A sparkling introduction leads into the brilliant Allegro of this piece, where the two principal themes alternate with elements deriving from the opening section. Thereafter, a brief transition takes us to a contrasting section (Andante) dominated by a dark and pensive mood. The reprise of the allegro brings back the two main themes in inverted order and with a different treatment of the musical elements. The return of the introductory fanfare brings the piece to an eloquent ending. The composer conducted the first performance of this piece on July 31, 2010 in Cantoira with the Fanfara Cantoirese to whom the composition is dedicated.
