Konzertformat / Concert Size “Chorale for Winds” was written as a commissioned work for the Allgäu-Schwäbischer Musikbund (ASM / Allgäu Swabian Music Association). Composer Martin Scharnagl's idea was to create a piece with a low level of technical difficulty that offers plenty of room for working on musical parameters such as intonation, playing together and phrasing. In addition to its pedagogical value, the composition is also suitable for a wide variety of occasions, for example, as an introductory piece at competitions or as a festive one for concerts and church events.
With his characteristic, unique musical handwriting, Martin Scharnagl creates memorable melodies that are embedded in sometimes surprising harmonic turns. In doing so, he skillfully lets the thematic material wander through almost every register and shows not only his deep musical feeling but also his great craftsmanship. Like his successful work “Mountain Wind”, “Chorale for Winds” also convinces with a particularly simple beauty.
