Commissioned on the occasion of "150 years of community music in Saalfelden - 2022"
Three movements:
1. Solennita
2. Under the Sway of Bossa
3. Bravura!
The work begins festively with a fanfare in the brass section, followed by a hymn-like melody in the woodwinds and horns, introducing this theme as the main theme of the work. The celebratory hymn ends in an allegro, which allows a second musical theme to wander across the registers of the wind orchestra. The following bossa then "strolls" swayingly "under the sway" - i.e. "under the jazzy influence" - a bossa nova with tenor sax solo through the streets of a city - as a kind of homage to the jazz festival and the city of Saalfelden ...
The piece ends with a fast bravura part (“Bravura!”), which in the finale lets the hymn-like main theme of the beginning and the secondary theme sound again in grand style.
The three movements are played without interruption (attacca). The solo part in the bossa nova (second movement) can alternatively be played by alto saxophone, horn, trumpet, flugelhorn or trombone. Extra alternative solo parts are included in the music set.
The total time of the work is about 12'30 minutes.
An optional "vi-de" makes it possible to perform only the first ("Solennità") and third ("Bravura!") movement.
The duration of the work is thus reduced to about 8 minutes.
