This festive piece over the famous Christmas carol is based on the plain original choral movement by Michael Praetorius. Alber Loritz moves the melody through several registers and instruments, processes it in several stages to carefully enhance it with new contrapuntal motives. The second part of this fantasy, that is clearly influenced by baroque sacred music, leads to a elaborate fugato part and finally to a glorious finale.
