"Waterkant!" is a musical story about sailors on the German Sea. Markus Goetz creates the atmosphere of sailors and their typical shanty music. Scenes of the story show different moods representing the exciting life of the sailors, from happy lightness to melancholic sorrow to festive joy. The different moods are more apparent when the band utilizes the indicated articulations and dynamics. The piece should be played with a twinkle in one’s eye.

1. Farewell at the Harbor: The sailors set sail, leaving their families and loved ones at the harbor.
2. On the High Seas!: The ship floats over the wide ocean.
3. Dance of the Sailors: Sailors merrily dance on deck.
4. Stormy Sea: The happy dance is interrupted by stormy weather. The sailors struggle to keep the ship on course.
5. Nostalgia: After having overcome the storm, they sailors are exhausted and in low spirits. They feel homesick and nostalgic.
6. Harbor Festival (Hamborger Veermaster): Finally they reach the harbor and there is a big festival to welcome them. We hear the famous and vibrant shanty song "Hamborger Veermaster"
