Making music in groups plays a major role in modern instrumental teaching. The "Blue Dances" have been written for young trumpeters performing together for the first time at auditions or competitions. This work is particularly suitable as a test piece for younger musicians playing at regional competition level. Extreme ranges of tone have consciously been avoided, but the pieces are somewhat more demanding in terms of rhythm. The various movements can either be played attacca one after the other or individually. An interesting variation is performance with a young percussionist. In the "African Intrada" and the "Caribbean Rondo" an improvised accompaniment using bongos, congas or wood blocks would be feasible.
Have fun with "Blue Dances"!
