So schön ist Volksmusik
Erkennungsmelodie des Grand Prix der Volksmusik (1986-2010)

“So schön ist Volksmusik” by Erich Becht is the catchy theme song of the Grand Prix der Volksmusik held annually between 1986 and 2010. Artists from Germany, Austria, Switzerland and later also South Tirol participated in the competition that was aired by public service broadcasters of those countries. Erich Becht (*1926) is a German musician for jazz and light music, a producer and composer. His schlager compositions made him very popular, some of them written under a pseudonym. He wrote for prestigious artists such as Bill Ramsey, Heino, Maria and Margot Hellwig and also Marianne und Michael. Erich Becht created many melodies that became memorable hits like “So schön ist Volksmusik”. Martin Scharnagl arranged the catchy tune for concert band and chose the title “So schön ist Blasmusik”, as a symbol for the connection between folk and wind music. This skillful and effective setting is an ideal opener for an entertaining concert program.
