Kleine Adventsfantasie Little Advent Fantasy „Maria durch ein Dornwald ging" und „Macht hoch die Tür"
Ensemble Time (Die Musizierstunde) MZ 312
(Brass Quintet)
For many people, it is the most wonderful time of the year: Advent and Christmas. So also for composer Thiemo Kraas. While waiting for the festival of love, which is accompanied by so many impressions and special moments, he sees an invitation to find (to) ourselves. The search and longing for reflection is so strong, especially at this time of year. Thiemo Kraas wants to stop time with his Advent fantasy and give us peace and strength so that we can find a moment of reflection. For his work “Mentis” - Latin for “contemplation” - he chose two songs that for him personally belong to the most beautiful hymns of the Advent season: the expectant-festive “Macht hoch die Tür" (Make high the doors ) and the tender and heartfelt “Maria durch ein' Dornwald ging” (Mary walked through a wood of thorn). Both hymns convince with their simplicity and depth, which make them so unique.
