Thematic Excerpts from all Symphonies
Themen aus allen 9 Sinfonien

2020 will mark the 250th anniversary of Ludwig van Beethoven's birth. Born in Bonn, Beethoven is considered the most performed classical composer in the world. Often described as "perfectionist of the Viennese Classic" and "forerunner to the Romantic period", he created great masterpieces with his nine symphonies, all part of the standard symphony orchestra repertoire.

American composer James L. Hosay had the idea to combine thematic elements from all nine symphonies into one complete work. While he managed to stay very close to the original form of Beethoven's music, he also carefully adapted it to the musical and technical requirements of the eXplora youth band series. "BEETHOVEN by the Numbers" is particularly suitable for familiarizing young musicians with the great and timeless music of Ludwig van Beethoven. In addition, the work lends itself very well to develop the basics of intonation and ensemble training.
