With this concert march, the German composer Ernst Hoffmann (1928-2016) wanted to create something very special: the piece should sound modern and be particularly suitable as an opening work. For these reasons he decided on the title OPENING. However, not only the English title exudes the scent of the big wide world. The musical language is also international and reveals many different models of the composer. For example, the striking theme at the beginning could be heard in an English or American military parade, whereas the second theme in 6/8 time and the melody of the TRIO are reminiscent of the music of the great revues and music theaters.
The accordion orchestra version of this piece is NOT combinable with the concert band version!
