Gripping and at the same time relaxed like a summer night – that’s the sound of “Summernight Rock”. The composition by Steve McMillan is almost a classic today. It combines concise and compact rhythms with lyrical elements. What emerges from that is a smooth piece of music. Harmonically, it is a reminder of the late 1960s’ beat music. There is a characteristic shift of key: up and down by a minor third. “Summernight Rock” is perfectly suited for wind players of the upper lower and lower intermediate level who want to make their audience “rock” (not only on a summer night) !
