Captain Satsuki Itoh enlisted in the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force in 1990.  His first assignment was with the 1st Combined Brigade Band (now, the 15th Brigade Band) in Okinawa and served as an Oboist with that band. In March 2001 Sergeant Itoh was appointed and promoted to 2nd Lieutenant in the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force. That same year he enrolled at the Musashino Academia Musicae as an auditing student. CPT Itoh served with several JGSDF Bands including the Central Band, the Western Army Band, 4th Division Band, and the 10th Division Band and was previously assigned as commander of the 1st Division Band in Tokyo. In August 2014, he was appointed Executive Officer and conductor for the JGSDF Middle Army Band.
CPT Satsuki Itoh studied with many great musicians such Maestro and conductor Akihiro Kano (Tokyo College of Music), vocal (baritone) studies with Reiko Kaneshima and Hisashi Shinozaki, and Oboe studies under Takehiko Nitori, Yuh Kobayashi and Yosuke Terashima.
CPT Satsuki Itoh is an active member of the Japan Oboe Association.
