Prince Rogers Nelson was a US-American singer, musician, songwriter and music producer. Only few artists influenced the development of pop music like he did by mixing different musical genres, from funk to pop, from rock to blues. He wrote the lyrics, composed, arranged and produced his own songs and on the most studio recordings he played all the instruments by himself.
His international breaktrough happend in 1984 with the song "Purple Rain" from the same-named album and the same-named movie starring Prince. More than 100 Million sold records, seven Grammy Awards, one Oscar and a Golden Globe prove his great musical talent.
Prince also drew attention with his unusuall, striking outfits and and an excentric self-pressentation, opposing a strong media-shyness.
