Marco Pütz | Componisten

Marco Pütz was born in Luxembourg in 1958. He studied music (saxophone, chamber music, harmony, counterpoint, conducting) in Luxembourg-City,Brussels and Liège(Belgium). Since 1987 he composed more than 80 works, especially for wind instruments and for Symphonic Wind Band, but also one musical for children, a string quartet and several compositions for Symphonic/Chamber Orchestra as well asa big number of chamber music and educational pieces.

International reputation came in 1995 when he was awarded the first prize at the International Clarinet Association CompositionContest (Atlanta, USA)with his Quatuor pour clarinettes.
In 2012 he was a twice finalist in the ITEA-CompositionContest with his compositions (Five open-ended pieces and Chapters of Life/Tuba Concerto).
In June 2017 the ‘ Plaquette d’Honneur ‘ of the UGDA (Union Grand-Duc Adolphe, Luxembourg) was awarded to him for his international achievements in wind band music.
In October 2017, Marco received the prestigious ‘ BUMA International Brass Award ‘(NL) as an acknowledgment for his compositions, especially for wind/fanfare orchestra.

Since 1980Marco Pütz has also taught saxophone, chamber music and instrumentation at the Conservatory of Luxembourg. He is a foundier member of the Luxembourg Saxophone Quartet(1982-2006). From 1981-2006 he currently played the saxophone parts at the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra.
