Don Gillis

Donald Eugene Gillis was een Amerikaanse componist, dirigent en muziekleraar. Hij studeerde af aan de Texas Christian University en was trombonist en associate leader van de college-harmonie. Hij studeerde af in 1935 en bleef nog een paar jaar aan de universiteit. In 1943 behaalde hij zijn Master of Music aan de North Texas State University. Don Gillis werd productiemanager van verschillende radiostations en werkte ook samen met de beroemde dirigent Arturo Toscanini, die toen het NBC Symphony Orchestra dirigeerde. Hij arrangeerde enkele werken voor het koperkwintet "Canadian Brass" en produceerde ook de opnames voor het album "Champions".
