Info

Rudolf Novácek studied violin at the Vienna Conservatory and later in Budapest. In 1879, he joined the military band of the infantry regiment No. 11 in Pilsen, lead by Karl Komzák. In 1882, Novácek became his successor as band director. In 1885, he took over the infantry regiment Nr. 28 in Prague. This band was under the direction of Colonel Ludwig Castaldo. In his honor, Novácek composed the famous Castaldo March in 1890, which is one of the most popular band marches still today. Later, Novácek was music teacher in Timisoara for many years.
