Built on folk songs from the Tohoku district in northeast Japan, this work skillfully captures the incorporation of folk material into music for the contemporary concert band. Brief and very accessible technically and stylistically, this is a work that can be played by a wide variety of bands and still sound rich and balanced. "Collage for Band" by Tetsunosuke Kushida is an excellent work that could be part of a concert featuring music from around the world.
