Info

“A Day of Hope” opens with an optimistic trumpet fanfare, repeated by the full brass section, after which the main theme of the introduction is presented by woodwinds with dance-like sentiment. A baritone solo leads, like a recitative, into the romantic middle section, then a solo trumpet offers a melody which is assumed by the full ensemble.
The work concludes with a grand march in the British military style. Here the animated first theme becomes very lyrical and noble. Short quotes of the introductory fanfare appear as the piece comes to a majestic and hopeful finale.
“A Day of Hope” speaks for peace and justice. It is a clearly uplifting piece, reflecting the positive influence of music in each theme.
