Those beautiful Russian waltzes exercise a strong charm on us by their “happy minor mode” were are still held in high esteem.
Luigi di Ghisallo did not want to close his mind to the spell coming from the Russian-type waltz, and therefore he wrote a thrilling little concert waltz with the title “Pushkin”. When played with proper dynamics and articulation this tremendously melancholical melody is a masterpiece.
