Markus Götz’ musical language is colourful and iridescent. A full-bodied sound and a sure hand in the employment of formal structures demonstrate his astonishing musicality. His work remains rooted in traditional forms; he explores the possibilities of an expanded tonality in order to create a high level of expressiveness and artistic panoramas of sound.

In his composition "Adventure !" Markus Götz has written a fictional film score which, in accordance with the cliché of the genre of adventure films, displays the typical characteristics of this popular film type. The hero, who makes the listeners’ hearts beat faster in his uncompromising fight for good, overcomes incalculable dangers; he is rewarded by the gentle love of a beautiful princess and bids farewell to love’s soft embrace, summoned by new challenges – thus a brief description of the plot conception of this composition.

The distinct structuring of the work makes it easy to follow the individual dramatic sections. It begins with a solemn and festive march which symbolises the hero’s glorious arrival. The adverse forces of nature, overcome by the hero, are expressed by rhythmically emphasised dance elements in closely-knit instrumentation, sometimes in counterpoint, which in its pressing forward movement brings a turbulent stringency to the music. The gentlest tones of love can inspire Markus Götz to a moving lyricism. With a wild "Allegro dramatico" the composition draws to a glorious close.

The composer knows how to arouse the imagination of his interpreters and to guide them into the depths of creative art. "Adventure !" is certainly a considerable addition to the concert repertoire for accordion orchestra.
