Stefan Kühndorf | Compositeurs

Stefan Kuehndorf received his first music lessons on the cornet at the age of 8. Two years later, he switched to the tuba. After postgraduate studies at the Music Academy Basel under Ernst May, he completed his bachelor studies with Prof. David LeClair in 2012. During this time, he scored various competition successes (including 1st Prize as champion at the Northwest Switzerland Soloist Competition). After further studies with Prof. Stefan Heimann and Stefan Ambrosius as part of the Master's degree program at the University of Music in Stuttgart, he made his way through engagements at the Opera Frankfurt and the "Staatsoper Berlin" to the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne, where he has been a permanent member since September 2015.

Various assignments with renowned orchestras, such as the Munich Philharmonic, the WDR Symphony Orchestra, the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra, the Festival Strings Lucerne and the Saarland State Theatre Saarbrücken extended his musical repertoire.

Stefan Kuehndorf is also a lecturer for double bass tuba at the University of Music and Performing Arts Mannheim. Since September 2019 he is a member of the "Staatsorchester Stuttgart".
