Mikhail Protsenko was born on January 5, 1949 in Stanitsa Novo-Michailovskaja, a Cossack village between the cities of Rostov and Krasnodar. From a very early age he was passionately interested in music. His first musical instrument was the balalaika, later he learned accordion, trumpet, baritone and trombone. In Moscow, he graduated from the Music Institute as a vocal and instrumental teacher. At the Faculty of Military Music he studied conducting (Kapellmeister). In the former USSR (Soviet Union), he conducted various military bands. In 1999, he moved to Germany. Since then, Mikhail Protsenko has worked as a music teacher and conductor of various music groups around the Lake of Constance region.
