In the 18th century, during an expedition across the American state of Florida, the English botanist Plukenett discovered a magnolia that left a lasting impression on him. He named the plant after the French botanist Pierre Magnol. In the meantime, the popular magnolia has become one of the best-known flowering trees in the world. Nowadays it’s available in various types and colours. Just as the magnificent blooms of the magnolia appear in springtime, so this simple choral melody opens slowly and gracefully, eventually blossoming to a glorious climax.
