In 1828, Carl Ludwig Unrath was born in Fürfeld near Heilbronn and joined the band of the 6th Wuerttemberg Infantry Regiment as a clarinet player at the age of 15. On 1847 he switched to the 1st Infantry Brigade and in 1849 to the 4th infantry regiment where he became diretor in 1862. He retired as military band director in 1872, but worked in the Wuerttemberg Ministry of War until 1893. Carl Ludwig Unrath died on 18th October 1908 at the age of 80 in Stuttgart.
