Jubilant
Info
The composer Antonín Ulrich studied at the school of military music in Prague, and after having passed it, he performed in the band of Infantry Regiment No. 38 in Beroun and in the band of the Battalion 6 of the Government Force in Hradec Králové between 1933 and 1944. Ulrich took private lessons in composition and conducting with two preeminent personalities of Czech band music: Jan Fadrhons and Jindøich Praveèek. Later he returned to the Prague school of military music as an instructor for some time and continued his studies at the Conservatory of Music in Prague from 1945-1948. After that he was active as a free lance musician in Prague and, in 1965, he established his own string orchestra specializing in concert and light music. His vast musical output reflects his melodic creativity. The brilliant march Jubilant is an outstanding example of his art in this specific category of music.
