Zwei Weihnachtslieder
Solo für Bariton (Tenorhorn/Posaune)
Info
"Silent Night, Holy Night" is undoubtedly one of the best-known and most popular Christmas carols in the world. Over the course of time, countless arrangements have been created for a wide variety of instrumentations, including many for wind ensembles or wind orchestras. The Dutch composer and arranger Kees Vlak conceptualised an arrangement for young musicians as part of the RUNDEL series "eXplora christmas". At first, he thought about a popular arrangement. However, it quickly became clear to him that a traditional arrangement of the song would be essential for the realisation of the particularly contemplative atmosphere. In order to capture the tenderness and intimacy of the music in the best possible way, the composer decided to use the warm and mellow sound of a tenor instrument (tenor horn, baritone, euphonium or trombone). It is used as a solo instrument with orchestral accompaniment.
Kees Vlak chose "Am Weihnachtsbaum die Lichter brennen" as the second piece for the same instrumentation. This song - like "Silent Night, Holy Night" - wants to capture the special magic of Christmas Eve and creates an image of candlelight and open fires in our mind's eye.
