Neil Diamond is an US-American singer and songwriter. His greatest hits are from the 1960's and 1970's, like his famous songs "Sweet Caroline", "Song Sung Blue" or "Cracklin' Rosie".

Diamond grew up in Brooklyn, New York as a son of Polish-Russian immigrants. As a teenager he got a guitar for a present and learned how to play. He visited the same High School as Barbara Streisand and they both sang in the Freshmen Chorus. He started his musical career as a songwriter. He composed songs for several famous singers, such as Roy Orbison, Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra. In 1966, he became successful as a singer, too and gained world-wide fame. In 2011, Neil Diamon was inducted to the Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame and two years later he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In 2017, Neil Diamond did his 50 year anniversary world tour.

Today, Neil Diamond is regarded as one of the biggest songwriters and musicians of popular music, but during the initial years, his career didn't really start well. After a very unsuccessful years period, Diamond established himself as a songwriter from the mid-1960s and eventually also as solo artist. The song "Sweet Caroline" in 1969 was his first big hit and paved the way for many other successful songs. Neil Diamond himself told two different origin stories about "Sweet Caroline" - a song that is still very famous and popular today. On the one hand he said in an interview that the inspiration for the song was Caroline, daughter of former U.S. president John F. Kennedy. He had seen a photo of the eleven-year-old in a magazine and from this image in his head the song...
