Like many other of Stanék’s compositions, Moravian Suite (1995) has been inspired by the picturesque Moravian landscape.
The introductory Pastorale is a lyrical picture with a distinct and gradating pastoral motive in the woodwinds, with a colourful scoring enhancing the full band sound.
The second movement, on the theme of the “Mùj koníèku sivý” folk song has a balladic character.
The final dance with a typical two-time “brigand” rhythm is of the scherzo type closing with a maestoso.
