The Mini-Blech-Konzert (Mini Brass Concerto) was commissioned by the Aalen Youth Wind Orchestra and eventually premiered by the Mannheim Symphonic Youth Wind Orchestra on 10 March 1996 under the baton of Stefan Fritzen. The title alludes to the composer’s intention to write a small concerto for brass instruments and band which is not too demanding in view of technical skills and musical scope. Its purpose is to prompt soloists and band to play music together. The five short movements feature light music of contrasting nature. The listener must remain attentive all the time, if he really wants to detect all subtleties and especially the rhythmic refinement of the music.
