The second movement LARGO from the "New World Symphony" (9th Symphony) is undoubtedly one of the most moving works by the Czech composer Antonín Dvorák. The original English horn theme is probably one of the best-known classical melodies.
With the current edition of the popular eXplora series, this touching music is now also playable for youth wind orchestras. The arranger Alfred Bösendorfer has succeeded in creating a practice-oriented adaptation that precisely deals with the requirements and circumstances of a young wind ensemble, while remaining close to the original.
This band version of the famous LARGO is also perfect for any orchestra's fundamental training on phrasing, sound, intonation and interaction - and provides an ideal resting point within a concert program.
The solo part is optionally playable with alto saxophone or trumpet.
