This sumptuous tone poem pays homage to Joan of Arc, and her divine mission of saving her country and helping the Dauphin (crown prince) gain the French throne, during the Hundred Years’ War between England and France. This and other brave acts ultimately led to her being condemned both for heresy, and for wearing clothing and armor such as is worn by a man, and sentenced to death. A remarkable piece about a remarkable woman.
