Johann Schrammel erhielt bei Georg und Josef Hellmesberger Musikunterricht, diente dann in einer österreichischen Militärkapelle und gründete 1877 zusammen mit seinem Bruder Josef, dem Klarinettisten Dänzer und dem Gitarristen Strohmayer das "Schrammel Quartett". Der Marsch "Wien bleibt Wien", stammt von Johann Schrammel.
