Heinrich Steinbeck was a Swiss-German composer and conductor. He received his first music lessons in piano and violin at the age of seven. At the age of eleven he learned to play a wind instrument, which was formative for his later musical career. At the age of 16 he entered the military music school in Dömitz-Schwerin, after which he studied at the Bavarian State Conservatory in Würzburg. Heinrich Steinbeck got an education as a conductor, composer and pianist. He earned his first fees as a pianist in Scandinavia, and in 1909 he became Kapellmeister at the Operettentheater in Karlsruhe. In 1912 he moved to Switzerland and became director of the "Stadtmusik" in Arbon. Heinrich Steinbeck composed several wind orchestra works. The "Regimentsgruss" (Regimental Salute) he wrote is one of the most well-known military marches in Germany.
