George Gershwin (1898-1937) is one of the greatest composers of the 20th century. His works include classical compositions, musicals and film scores. Characteristic of his writing are elements taken from jazz. Many of his melodies became real jazz classics. His brother Ira mostly wrote the lyrics. Although George died at just 38 from a brain tumor, he wrote numerous compositions, of which many became very famous. With GERSHWIN IN CONCERT Dick Ravenal created a musical homage to the composer that contains five of the best-known Gershwin-melodies. They include “The Man I Love” and “Fascinating Rhythm” from the Musical “Lady Be Good” as well as the hit song “I Got Rhythm” and the jazz classics “Embraceable You” and “Someone To Watch Over Me”.
