Among the “white cities” of the Costa de la Luz, the throbbing metropolis of Cádiz is Spain’s gate to the Atlantic Ocean. It is therefore not astonishing at all that this city with its fascinating past infused Luigi di Ghisallo with musical inspiration. Based on the classic fast – slow – fast pattern, a colorful Spanish impression was prompted by this musical stimulation.
The first fast section is followed by the slow central part, a thoroughbred habanera. Here the Andalusian flavor really catches the ear of the listener. Trumpet calls as they are heard during the Spanish bullfight take us to the sparkling coda. Typical Spanish sounds and rhythms make a brilliant finale for “Fiesta in Cádiz”.
