Young Tyrolean composer, arranger and drummer Martin Scharnagl attracts attention not only with his hit polkas like “Von Freund zu Freund” or “Augenblicke” – also his concert pieces are very popular with musicians and audiences.

Martin Scharnagl composed “Festivus Fanfare” in 2014 when he became conductor of his home concert band Musikkapelle Kössen in Tyrol, premiering the piece at his debut concert. The fanfare is of medium difficulty and is particularly suitable for festive occasions and concerts. It has an A-B-A structure and begins with bright high brass sounds and timpani before the main theme wanders through all sections (A). The following “Festivo” (B) is the calm anchor of the piece that also allows separate performance as a kind of chorale. Here the woodwinds take the lead, introducing the main theme. After a short brass incursion, the whole band completes the melody with a solemn tutti presentation. In a slightly modified A part, “Festivus Fanfare” finally marches towards a bright conclusion.
