Info

The world-famous march composer Julius Fučík was born in Prague in 1872. His best-known work is undoubtedly the triumphal march “Einzug der Gladiatoren” (Entry   of the Gladiators, op. 68). The piece was written in 1899 in Sarajevo, where Fučík served as military bandmaster of the Austro-Hungarian army. A few years later, the march made its way to the USA. There, however, it was played much faster, which made it the flagship of the "circus march" genre. To this day, there are only a few melodies that are so reminiscent of the circus atmosphere and symbolically remind the listener of the "Entry of the Gladiators".

Alternative title:
Vjezd gladiátorů / Grande Marche Chromatique / Thunder and Blazes
Donner und Feuersbrünste / Entrance of the Gladiators

Completely revised edition (2016) of the arrangement by Walter Tuschla.
New engraving, incl. full score and condensed score !
