"Das junge Weihnachtskonzert" (Engl.: "The Young Christmas Concert") is a medley of the four Christmas carols "Kling, Glöckchen" (Engl.: "Ring, little Bell"), "Ihr Kinderlein kommet" (Engl.: "Oh, come, little children"), "Fröhliche Weihnacht überall" and "Morgen kommt der Weihnachtsmann". It is especially designed for youth orchestras. On the one hand, it was important to the composer to use four Christmas carols that are particularly well-known in German-speaking countries. On the other hand, the songs were also chosen by the composer because they have the same basic tempo.
Alfred Bösendorfer - for whom it was always important to attach a certain pedagogical value to his eXplora works - thus created a very practical work that can be successfully interpreted even by musicians with little playing experience. A particularly attractive option is to supplement the wind parts with a solo singer and/or a choir (in unison) using the enclosed vocal part.
