Info

Lieutenant Colonel Christoph Scheibling was born in 1969 in Wipperfürth. He received his first musical training at the age of 8 on the piano and trombone. In 1989 he joined the military music service of the Bundeswehr and, as part of his music officer training, began studying to be a conductor at the Robert Schumann University in Düsseldorf. He studied conducting with Prof. Wolfgang Trommer, piano with Udo Falkner and finished his studies with distinction. This was followed by assignments as deputy chief of the Air Force Band 2 in Karlsruhe and the Staff Music Corps of the German Armed Forces in Siegburg.

From 2001 to 2007, Lieutenant Colonel Scheibling was chief of the Mountain Band of the Bundeswehr in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Numerous foreign missions in the countries of operations Bosnia-Herzegovina, Kosovo and Afghanistan, international military music festivals and a large number of concerts determined its use by the soldiers "among the Edelweiß". He completed further military training at the mountain and winter combat school in Mittenwald and at the airborne and air transport school in Altenstadt.

From 2007 to 2010 he led the Air Force Band 2 in Karlsruhe. He led this as the first German music corps to Israel, to the acclaimed celebration of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the state. Another highlight was the joint performance with an Afghan music corps on German Unity Day in Kabul. As head of German mentoring teams, Lieutenant Colonel Scheibling completed foreign missions in 2009 and 2010 as part of the ISAF mandate to develop Afghan military bands in Kabul. Subsequently, Lieutenant Colonel Scheibling was deputy head of the Bundeswehr's military music service in Bonn before becoming head of the "Musikkorps der Bundeswehr" (The Concert Band of the German Armed Forces) in Siegburg in October 2012. His musical work applies to the cultivation of concertante, symphonic wind music as well as German and international march music. He promoted numerous joint projects of his music corps with civilian youth orchestras and music associations, acts as a juror in competitions and judging games, runs conducting seminars and is a sought-after guest conductor.

On February 18, 2022, he handed over command of the "Musikkorps der Bundeswehr" (The Concert Band of the German Armed Forces) to his successor, Lieutenant Colonel Christian Weiper. On February 22, 2022, he was appointed Deputy Head of the Military Music Service and Center for Military Music.
