Carl (Adam Johann Nepomuk) was an Austrian lawyer, ministry official, head of the art department in the Ministry of Education and, as a composer, a representative of the golden era of operettas. Throughout his life he only composed as a part-time job, but his musical work is in line with the three grand masters of classical Viennese operetta, Carl Millöcker, Franz von Suppè and Johann Strauss. His most successful operetta is "Der Vogelhändler", the epitome of the German-Austrian homeland operetta and has been filmed several times. The songs like "Grüß euch Gott, alle miteinander", "Ich bin die Christel von der Post" or "Schenkt man sich Rosen in Tirol" became world hits.
