This overture comes from one of one Rossini's more serious tragic operas. It is based on Voltaire's "Seriramis", which centers on the Babylonian Queen Semiramide. This arrangement for band by Jim Mahaffey offers fine solo opportunities for either trumpet or euphonium and flute, clarinet, or oboe.
