Arthur Pryor gehörte seit 1892 dem Orchester John Philip Sousa's als Solo-Posaunist an, 1894 bis 1903 zudem als zweiter Dirigent. 1903 bis 1909 leitete er ein eigenes Orchester. Pryor hinterließ mehr als 300 Kompositionen, er spielte mehr als 1000 Schallplatten ein und zählte zu den Gründungsmitgliedern der amerikanischen Blasorchester-Vereinigung.
