The march “Gipfelsturm” (“Storm the Summit”) is an official military march of the Federal Austrian Army, as it was commissioned by the Center of Mountain Warfare of the Army Military School. The mission of the Center which is located in Saalfelden am Steinernen Meer is to conduct instructions in mountain warfare on national and international levels. The band of the Salzburg Military Command premiered this fine piece at the location of the Center on Sep. 25, 2008. Christian Berchthaler who hails from Tamsweg has been a tuba and bass guitar player in the band of the Salzburg Military Command since 1996. In addition to that he has been instrumental as musician in several civilian groups and also attracted attention as a composer in a number of cases.
