Maurice Hamers studied trumpet and conducting at the Maastricht University of Music. He has been conducting wind orchestras, fanfare orchestras and brass bands since he was 19. At the WMC (World Music Contest) conducting competition in 1989 he won the "Silver Baton" and with the "Harmonie St. Caecilia Simpelveld" he produced the album "The New Village" for the music publisher RUNDEL in 1993. In 1995, Maurice Hamers became chief conductor of the famous “Royal Marine Band” in Rotterdam. In addition to his work as a conductor, he is also active as a composer. Since 2000, Maurice Hamers has been professor of wind orchestra conducting at the Nuremberg-Augsburg University of Music (now the Leopold Mozart Center at the University of Augsburg) and teaches conducting and instrumentation there.
