Bedrich Smetana (1824-1884), the father of Czech national music art wrote his fourth opera "Libussa", based on the story of princess Libussa, after a libretto by Josef Wenzig and Erwin Spindler and determined it for festive events of the Czech people. Finished already in 1872 the opera was not premiered bevor Juni 11, 1881, when the National Theatre in Prague opened. The fanfares at the beginning of the opera are based on a simple sixth chord in a major key and are connected to important events of the Czech prople. They are the official presidential fanfares and announce his arrival still today.
