Ivan Shekov, born in Sofia (Bulgaria), studied at the local music academy. His first compositions, mostly for piano, were written during his school days.
Ivan Shekov worked internationally as a concert pianist and played chamber music concerts with world-famous artists such as P. Fournier - cellist (France), with the violinists M. Kaplan (USA), R. Odnopossoff (Austria), D. Podlovski (USA), D. Schneidermann, E. Kamilarov, M. Mintschef (Bulgaria), with the tenor L. Alva (Peru, Italy), with the flautist L. Oshavkova (Bulgaria) and many more. In Italy he won the gold medal of the "Busoni" piano competition.
In 1979 he wrote songs for children's choir and chamber orchestra on behalf of Bulgarian TV. In 1980 Shekov came to Germany and taught from 1983 to 2006 at the Tettnang City Music School. During this time he also published his compositions at RUNDEL Music Publications.
In addition to orchestral and vocal works, Shekov mainly composes chamber music for all instruments and compositions for young musicians. His Works received awards at composition competitions in Berlin in 1992 and in Lugano in 1994.
Today Ivan Shekov lives in Bulgaria again.
