Hubert Weißmann was born on July 20th, 1937 in Ebene Reichenau, Austria. At the age of 14 he played flugelhorn in the Trachtenkapelle Ebene Reichenau, that later, in 1968, he conducted as its bandmaster. He participated in several band music workshops and during his military service, he studied strumpet at the Landeskonservatorium Klagenfurt under Prof. Huber and Prof. Wilhelmer. Weißmann finished his studies to great success. From 1975 to 1977 he completed his bandmaster studies under Prof. Scherr and military bandmaster Sollfeldner. Besides engagements as musician and conductor of different orchestras, Hubert Weißmann was mainly active as leader and trumpeter of brass ensembles (Oberkrainer instrumentation), for which he wrote several polkas and waltzes.
