Info

Our swinging tour of Europe is a musical salute to those states, which introduced the Euro as their common currency on January 1, 2002. The introduction is followed by unmistakable echoes of the European anthem. Then musical fragments from the following countries were strung together: France, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Ireland, Greece, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Belgium, Austria, and finally Germany with a swinging version of “Muss I denn, muss I denn” (“Got to go, got to go”). You must not be afraid, as you will not be seriously examined, how many or which of these motifs you really know. It is rather simple, and you will not have much trouble if you attempt to associate the individual musical fragments with a specific country. The composer helps you here, as he artfully selected such tunes that will tell you something about the nature of the country and its people, which are musically portrayed in our tour. You therefore should listen carefully. Finally there is a lot of confusion towards the end of the piece, such as will also frequently occur in the European Parliament. Our score bears the annotation “tumultoso” in this instance. Do not worry, when well-known musical fragments (from Austria, Spain and the Netherlands) show up again: our swinging tour of Europe will come to a peaceful conclusion.
