The piece "Überall ist Weihnacht'" (It´s Christmas everywhere) composed by Patrick Egge for brass quintet brings a festive Christmas atmosphere into every room. This composition is based on two themes from the old christmas carol "Fröhliche Weihnacht' überall !" (Merry Christmas Everywhere). The well-known and joyful main theme (see e.g. bar 85 in trumpet 1) is developed several times in harmony, motifs and timbre. Through imitations and counterpoint-like use of all instruments, this motif characterizes almost the entire piece and thus conveys the festive sound. With the second theme from the above-mentioned carol (see e.g. bar 49 in Horn 1) the composer created a devout and very sonorous middle section. After a few bars, the first motif creeps in again and leads to the recapitulation with a solemn coda.
